Princeton, New Jersey is a part of Mercer County. Since 1756, Princeton University has long been a site in the community. Princeton is not just a college town there are many other businesses in the area that are important as well. These institutions include Educational Testing Service, Advanced Study, Berlitz International, Dow Jones and Company, Opinion Research Corporation, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Princeton is almost equal distance between Philadelphia and New York. After the end of World War II, many New York commuters called Princeton home and still do at the present. Since 1945, the Governor's mansion has been in Princeton even though Trenton is the capital city of New Jersey. The original colonial mansion that was the governor's mansion became possession of the New Jersey Historical Society when it was replaced by a larger one. Money Magazine name Princeton #15 in the top one hundred towns of the United States. Princeton is actually made up of two communities, a borough and a township. In 1894, the borough broke away from the township because of a disagreement over school taxes. Later, the two communities established the Princeton Regional Schools.
